The full document of Pope Benedict XVI’s latest Motu Proprio, Fides per Doctrinam (Faith through Doctrine) released on 16 January 2013. It’s in Italian, so if you have difficulty, I believe the translator in chrome works quite well in translating this document to English.

Motu proprio is a kind of document that is signed by the Pope and is a document issued by the Pope’s own initiative, and may deal with matter pertaining to certain parts of the faith or matters pertaining to the Church as a whole.

A short explanation on the changes brought about by this Motu Proprio, mainly concerning transfer in the duties of some offices of the Roman Curia.

  1. 2356 Rape is the forcible violation of the sexual intimacy of another person. It does injury to justice and charity. Rape deeply wounds the respect, freedom, and physical and moral integrity to which every person has a right. It causes grave damage that can mark the victim for life. It is always an intrinsically evil act. Graver still is the rape of children committed by parents (incest) or those responsible for the education of the children entrusted to them.

    • You and many others may have been hurt by the actions of several unfaithful ministers of the Lord, but this does not mean that the entire Church itself is corrupt, as most priests and the ministers of the Lord remain true to their calling and their mission, just as most of us the laity do. The Church is human as it is divine, and therefore, it may commit mistakes, but rather than focusing on the evil and condemning the flaws (and the whole institution just because of the flaw), let us rather work together, to reform the Church to make it truly holy again in Christ.
I personally condemn especially the action of rape and perversion by these men appointed by God, as it is not what is proper to them. Pray for our good priests, that they will remain strong in their devotion to the Lord, and remain faithful as beacons of light to the faithful.
