Monday, 28 January 2013 : 3rd Week of Ordinary Time, Memorial of St. Thomas Aquinas, Priest and Doctor of the Church (Psalm)

Psalm 97 : 1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4, 5-6

Sing to the Lord a new song, sing to the Lord, all the earth!

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim His salvation day by day.

Recall His glory among the nations, tell all the peoples His wonderful deeds.

How great is the Lord and worthy of praise! Above all other gods He is to be feared.

For all other gods are worthless idols, but YHVH is the one who made the heavens.

Splendor and majesty go before Him; power and glory fill His sanctuary.

Sunday, 27 January 2013 : 3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time (Psalm)

Psalm 18 : 8-10, 15

The law of the Lord is perfect; it gives life to the soul.

The word of the Lord is trustworthy; it gives wisdom to the simple.

The precepts of the Lord are right; they give joy to the heart.

The commandments of the Lord are clear; they enlighten the eyes.

The fear of the Lord is pure; it endures forever.

The judgments of the Lord are true; all pf them just and right.

May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart find favour in Your sight, o Lord – my Redeemer, my Rock!

Saturday, 26 January 2013 : 2nd Week of Ordinary Time, Memorial of Saints Timothy and Titus, Bishops (Psalm)

Psalm 95 : 1-2a, 2b-3, 7-8a, 10

Come, let us sing to the Lord, let us make a joyful sound to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before Him giving thanks, with music and songs of praise. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.

He is our God, and we His people; the flock He leads and pastures. Would that today you heard His voice!

Do not be stubborn as at Meribah, in the desert, on that day at Massah. For forty years they wearied me and I said, “They are a people of inconsistent heart, they have not known My ways.”

Friday, 25 January 2013 : 2nd Week of Ordinary Time, Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle (Psalm)

Psalm 116 : 1-2

Praise the Lord, all you nations; all you peoples, praise Him.

How great is His love for us! His faithfulness lasts forever.

Thursday, 24 January 2013 : 2nd Week of Ordinary Time, Memorial of St. Francis de Sales, Bishop and Doctor (Psalm)

Psalm 39 : 7-8a, 8b-9, 10, 17

Sacrifice and oblation you did not desire; this you had me understand. Burnt offering and sin offering you do not require.

Then I said, “Here I come! as the scroll says of me. To do Your will is my delight, o God, for Your law is within my heart.”

In the great assembly I have proclaimed Your saving help. My lips, o Lord, I dd not seal – You know that very well.

But may all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You, and may all who love Your saving grace continually say, “The Lord is great.”

Wednesday, 23 January 2013 : 2nd Week of Ordinary Time (Psalm)

Psalm 109, 1-4

Break your silence, o God whom I praise, now that the wicked and deceitful hurl their false accusations at me.

They assail me with words of hatred; they attack me for no valid cause.

They return my friendship with slander, and yet I pray for them.

Change : Inclusion of the Psalm

Since I realised that the Psalm is very much part of the Scripture and that it is also definitely worthy reflecting on, I will include the Psalm in the daily readings from now on.
