My Prayer Intention for Friday, 9 August 2013

1. For the victims and survivors of the Atomic Bombing of Nagasaki, 68 years ago on this day. May the Lord who is loving and merciful protect and be with them throughout their ordeal and difficulties, and may He welcome those departed into His loving embrace in heaven. That they will not become bitter through their suffering, but remain loving and forgiving, that they may bring others into understanding about their plight and push further the cause for the complete ban of any Weapons of Mass Destruction.

2. For Singapore and all Singaporeans, who are celebrating their 48th Anniversary of Independence today. May the Lord continue to bless and protect Singapore and all its people, as He had always done for these past forty-eight years. May He continue to bless her people with love and awareness, of the plight of others less fortunate, that they will not be engulfed in excessive and endless pursuit of money, wealth, and worldly pleasures, and instead being active citizens of the country and this world, helping one another and supporting those who are in need with love, compassion, and kindness.

3. For our Church. May the Lord continue to shine upon our Church and all of us His beloved people. May our Church continue to provide God’s love upon many who are suffering, from the lack of food, the lack of care, and the lack of love. May we, the people of God’s One Body in the Church continue to work hard and do our best to contribute to the charitable activities led by the Church to bring God’s love and light to others.

May the Lord who is merciful and loving, listen to our prayers and the humble petitions in our hearts, that He will exercise His divine grace and power, interceding for our behalf. God bless us all. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for 7 and 8 August 2013

1. To all of us the people of God. That we will learn to obey our Lord and God, and does not harden our hearts against His love. Let us not be like the people of Israel when they were in the desert, complaining against God when they have been given enough and plenty, and therefore suffered the punishment of the Lord. May we put our full trust and faith in God at all times, obeying His will, and most importantly, love Him more than any other things, even ourselves.

2. For religious harmony and peace in the world. May the Lord plant the seeds of love in the hearts of men, that they will learn to respect the differences between them, and also strive to achieve peace and harmony in all the things that they do. That all men and women may live together in harmony and peace, filled with love for one another, despite their differences, and learn to put aside their differences for the greater glory of God, and to help serve others who are in need, for our love and for our support instead of fighting with one another.

3. For all people working and involved with legal careers and justice system. May the Lord put the love for His Law and the law of justice in their hearts. May He remind them that their first priority is to make sure that justice is upheld and ensure that those who are wrong be punished, and those who are right be absolved from any false accusations. May He instill in them the love for justice and the love for both God and His people at all times.

Let us bring forth these prayers we have, and all the things we keep in secret in our hearts, to the Lord with great humility and with a contrite heart. May He forgive us our sins and listen to our prayers, and comes to make His power manifest in this world, for our sake and for His love for us. God bless us all. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for Tuesday, 6 August 2013

1. For all of us. May the Lord who revealed His glory and majesty to His disciples in the wondrous Transfiguration, also reveals to us the greatness of His glory, the depth of His love and compassion, as well as the infinite wonders of His mercy. May He continue to bless us with His blessings and grace as we, His children, journeyed through this world of fear and darkness, that we will be brave, and not satisfied just being within our zones of comfort, but dare to step out and make a difference in the life of others.

2. For the victims of the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, especially those of Hiroshima, who suffered ever since the bomb was detonated on Hiroshima, on this very day, 68 years ago. May the Lord comfort them and remain with them, and may He heal them from their afflictions through His infinite love and mercy. May He grant them perseverance and strength, and also understanding to those around them, that they will not ostracise them because of what had happened to them, but instead embrace them with love, as brothers and sisters, children of the same God.

3. For our late Pope Paul VI, the Venerable Pope Paul VI, who died on this day 35 years ago, on 6 August 1978, on this Feast of the Transfiguration. May the Transfigured Christ welcome him and be with him in the eternal bliss of heaven that is his reward. We thank the Lord for Venerable Pope Paul VI and his hard work for the sake of God’s Church and God’s people. We pray that he will also soon be elevated to the Altar, as one of the holy saints of the Lord.

We ask these prayers and petitions, in the Most Holy Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Transfigured Lord and God, who is fully divine, yet fully human, and He who had delivered us from death through His own death on the cross, and His glorious resurrection. God bless us all. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for Monday, 5 August 2013

1. For Monsignor Konrad Krajewski, who was appointed the new Almoner of His Holiness the Pope. May the Lord bless him in his new position and his new role, in managing the Pope’s charitable activities, that he will do his work dutifully for the sake of God’s Church and God’s people. We also thank You for giving him to us, through his excellent services as the Assistant Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, ensuring that we have wonderful Papal Masses that bring all of us as one in worshipping You through the Holy Mass.

2. For the people in positions of governance and responsibility to the people. May the Lord plant in them the seeds of responsibility and devotion to their position as people entrusted with others under their care. May they know to put those entrusted to them first before themselves, and dedicate themselves fully in the service to those given to them. May they become truly good shepherds that the people, the sheep of the flock of God, may look up to and follow. May they never be engulfed in their own selves and selfishness, and put love in all their actions, and not to be corrupted or tempted by the power and authority given to them.

3. For people who are in hunger, both for physical food, or for spiritual food of love. May the Lord satiate them and their hunger, through our own actions, their brothers and sisters. May we all learn to share with one another what we have more, what we have that may alleviate their hunger, their hunger for love, and their hunger for food. May we know that in sharing our love, and in sharing what we have, we will have more and not less, because we share them in happiness and joy, with our brethren in need.

May the Lord who is merciful and kind, look upon us His children who are suffering, who are in the darkness of sin, that our plight and petitions may be lifted up, and reach His presence in heaven, that He may show His love and mercy to us. God bless us all. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for Sunday, 4 August 2013

1. For all of us. That we will always be reminded that our lives in this world are short, and the times and happiness that we have in our world is temporary. That we may use whatever time given to us in this world to the fullest, to the greatest potential, in serving the Lord and our fellow brethren, with love, compassion, and dedication. May we focus on seeking true happiness and joy in the Lord, and in the happiness and joy of our brothers and sisters, that we may share that happiness and joy with one another.

2. For people working in financial institutions and money-related careers. That they will not lose sight of their true goal in life, that is the Lord and His love, and that they will not succumb to the temptation of money and wealth, remaining faithful to their true vocation in life. May they be able to discern that the true objectives of their career is to make a difference in the lives of others through their own work in its various ways, and not to seek to increase their own personal wealth, especially not in the expense of others.

3. For our leaders and those in positions of power. That they will use their power and the authority entrusted to them by us and by the Lord with full sense of responsibility and clear understanding. That they will first seek to serve others and look for their own good before thinking about their own self. May our leaders be dedicated and loving leaders and people of justice, integrity, and love, who are dedicated to serving the people of God with zeal and commitment.

4. For all of us. That we will treasure all our loved ones, our families and friends, whom we had met in our lives, and those who had made a difference in our lives, in their own ways. May the Lord show us and open our eyes, that we still have those who love us, and we have the Lord Himself who loves us all the time, that we will begin to treasure this life we had been given, and give thanks to Him who had breathed the breath of life into us, mere dust made alive.

May the Lord accept our humble prayers, and may His saints and angels succour always in times of need, in our times of difficulties, reminding us always that the Lord is always with us, walking with us, and supporting us without ceasing. God be with us all and may His blessings and graces remain with us at all times. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for Friday, 2 August 2013 and Saturday, 3 August 2013

1. For the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, my beloved Cathedral. May the Lord continue to bless all the people who come to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at this aged but wonderful church. May the Lord moved the hearts of many to donate generously to the Restoration Fund, to repair the damages that had been caused by the constructions around the Cathedral in the past few years, and made it rejuvenated once again, as the Mother church of the Archdiocese of Singapore.

2. For healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, and all involved with the care and well-being of others. May the Lord continue to bless and strengthen them in their work, that they will be able to continue to provide many with their service, which they offered to ensure that everyone has no need to worry of being sick, just as Christ once came to heal the sick and those with infirmities. May the Lord remind them always of the commitment that they have to love those who are sick, that they will truly be men and women for others, and not for the money the career offers them.

3. For our parents and elders. May the Lord bless and protect them all the days of their life. May He grant them good health and happy life, especially in their old age. For they had been our protectors and our guardians for much of the early parts of our life, even till this very moment. May He bless them just as they have blessed us, and may He protect them just as He has always protected us, giving them the same grace and love that we enjoy from our Lord today and forever.

May the Lord have mercy on us and show His love for us always, as He had done through the ultimate sacrifice of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. The victorious and triumphant cross, a sign of hope for all of us, that He, who hears all the prayers and petitions of His beloved children, will never abandon us, but will bring us all to eternal life in Him. God bless us all. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for Thursday, 1 August 2013

1. For nations and people around the world. May the Lord inculcate in His beloved people, the spirit of obedience and support, that the people will love and support those who had been entrusted with power and authority in their respective societies, that the leaders may effectively exercise their power and authority for the good sake of the Lord’s people, and may the people of God become more committed to serving their society, to the least, the abandoned, and unloved of their neighbours.

2. For the leaders of the nations and the people. May the Lord inflames in them the fire of love for the people they have been entrusted with, like a shepherd loving his own sheep and flock. May He empower them to take an extra mile in their service and their work, as well as a strong commitment to sincerity and honesty in their work, that they will not resort to underhanded measures for their own sake. Instead, may they be more committed to serving the people God had entrusted them with.

3. For all of us. May we grow to understand God’s love for us, and His love for everyone, without exception, that we will not inculcate any feelings of hatred, jealousy, or the similar vices in our hearts. Instead, may they be more dedicated to the plight of their unloved, their forsaken, and their poor brothers and sisters, who are without food, without love, and without care. Let us not be selfish individuals but be individuals for others.

May the Lord receive these prayers we offer Him in humility, in our sinfulness. May His angels bring these sweet incense to His presence in heaven. God bless us all. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for Wednesday, 31 July 2013

1. For Jesuits around the world and all those affiliated to the Society of Jesus as a whole, including our Pope Francis. May the Lord bless them and protect them as they embark on their daily journeys of work amongst God’s people and ministering to those who are least, weakest, and abandoned in our society. May the Lord work His power through them and strengthen the faith and love we have for Him through their work. May the Jesuits continue to serve the Lord and His people for the Lord’s own greater glory, in line with the motto of their founder, St. Ignatius Loyola, that is ‘Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam’ – ‘For the greater glory of God’

2. For all priests around the world, religious and diocesan. May they always recall their calling in life, and their total commitment to the Lord, as His bride, and the bride of the Church, the leaders and shepherds of the people of God. May they remain faithful to their calling and their vocation, and may they always exercise the power and authority that God had granted them with care, and full of love and compassion, especially to those who are without love, and to those who still live in the darkness of evil. May the Lord ever strengthen the faith, love, and hope in their hearts.

3. For all those aspiring to the priesthood and religious life. May the Lord who calls them to His service strengthen their devotion and resolution to His cause, and the cause of His beloved people, that they will be able to make a carefully thought decision, and that they will be able to commit to the choices they are to make, so that in all the things they do, they will always remain in the grace of God and bring the blessings of the Lord to all around them. Keep their faith and dedication in the Lord strong and ever living, despite the challenges and the temptations that await them along the way.

4. For victims of prejudice and persecution of all kinds. May the Lord be with all of them, and protect them, strengthen them with His love, that they will persevere. And most importantly that they will not keep grudge or hatred against their enemies, but be resolved to forgive them with all sincerity of heart. May the Lord end all forms of injustice, prejudice, hatred, and persecution in our world.

May the Lord accept all these humble prayers that we lift up to Him in heaven. May the angels bring these petitions and may the saints intercede always for us sinners still walking on this earth. Amen.

My Prayer Intention for Tuesday, 30 July 2013

1. For the autistic special school student I have met on the train today. May the Lord watch over you and protect you, that you will not meet harm in this world as you progress through life. May the Lord show you kindness and heal you from your afflictions. May He also be with you and your family through the difficulties of your life.

2. For teachers and my fellow mates in the institute for teacher education I am studying in now. May the Lord be with all of us, and protect us, and bless us as we embark on this learning journey together for the next one year or so. May God who is loving embrace all of us with His love, comfort us whenever we are down and sorrowful, and give us new hope whenever we are in despair. Accompany us at all times, o Lord.

3. For victims of religious persecutions all around the world. May the Lord be with those persecuted for their faith in Him, and free them from the hands of their enemies. May He also bring enlightenment to the hearts of those who hate the people of God, that they will learn the truth and turn their hearts towards the Lord. Let there be no more persecutions of the faithful, but let all mankind return to the Lord our God.

4. For families of the people of God. May the Lord keep the love burning in each families, and may the fire of that love never be quenched out. May the Lord bless the families, especially the children with abundant blessings, and plant the seeds of awareness of the need for families to remain in love and unity, and also having good communications with one another, in each and every members of the family.

May the Lord receive our prayers and listen to our petitions, just as we hear Him in the silence of our hearts. May He send His angels to protect and care for us, and may His saints constantly intercede for us sinners still walking in this world. God bless us all, forever and ever. Amen.

My Prayer Intentions for Monday, 29 July 2013

Today I would like to offer my prayer intentions for :

1. To the victims of the terrible coach accident in Italy. May the Lord welcome those whom He had called back into His presence in heaven, and may He grant them eternal rest in peace and happiness. May He also be with those who had been left behind, and those who received injuries, that the Lord will be with them until they fully recover from their physical and mental sufferings. May the Lord who comforts the sorrowful and sinners be with them.

2. To the Holy Father, our Pope Francis, the successor of St. Peter, Your Vicar in this world. May the Lord be with him at all times, and protect him, and grant him new strength and rest after the tiring but wonderful experience at the World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. May He always bless our Pope with abundant blessings!

3. To the youths who had participated in the World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro. May the Lord continue to inflame their hearts with the fire of the Holy Spirit, with the fire of faith, hope, and love. That the Spirit of the World Youth Day and the renewal of the faith does not just stop at there, but continue to lead them as they all grow and journey through life, becoming inspiration for the future generations.

4. To the youths and all who had not been able to attend the World Youth Day 2013 in Rio de Janeiro. May the Lord continue to strengthen their faith, their hope, and their love, that they will continue to serve the Lord faithfully as they had done all these while. May the Lord be with them and give them chance to participate in the next World Youth Day in Krakow in 2016.

5. To all teachers around the world, including me, the Lord’s humble servant and all priests. May the Lord continue to inspire in us, the love for every children of God, particularly the young ones, in whom the Lord had planted His love and faith. May we through our actions, our words, and our deeds, both inside and outside the classroom, both inside and outside the church, continue to inspire others to follow our footsteps, to be good men and women, as people of love, and as people for others.

May the angels of God bring these prayers to His Altar in heaven, and may our prayers together smell sweet like incense of our offering, as we pour out our heart to Him, and as we listen to Him in our prayer. God be with us all, forever and ever. Amen.
