English translation

Save us, o Lord, our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to Your Holy Name, and may glory in Your praise.

You, o Lord, are our Father and Redeemer, Your Name is from eternity.

My mouth shall speak of the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless His Holy Name. Alleluia.

In diebus illis : Petrus, repletus Spiritu Sancto, dixit : Principes populi et seniores, audite : Si nos hodie dijudicamur in benefacto hominis infirmi, in quo iste salvus factus est, notum sit omnibus vobis et omni plebi Israel : quia in Nomine Domini nostri Jesu Christi Nazareni, quem vos crucifixistis, quem Deus suscitavit a mortuis, in hoc iste astat coram vobis sanus.

Hic est lapis, qui reprobatus est a vobis aedificantibus : qui factus est in caput anguli : et non est in alio aliquo salus. Nec enim aliud nomen est sub caelo datum hominibus, in quo oporteat nos salvos fieri.

 

English translation

In those days, Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said, “You princes of the people and ancients, hear : If we this day are examined concerning the good deed done to the infirm man, by what means he had been made whole, be it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you have crucified, whom God had raised from the dead, even by Him this man stood here before you whole.”

“This is the stone which the builders have rejected, which has become the cornerstone. Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved.”

English translation

In the Name of Jesus let every knee bow, those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. And let every tongue confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.

O Lord, our Lord, how wonderful is Your Name in the whole earth!

English translation

O God, who had appointed Your only begotten Son to be the Saviour of the human race, and had commanded that He be called Jesus, mercifully grant that we may enjoy in heaven the vision of Him whose Holy Name we venerate on earth. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

English translation

Yours are the heavens and Yours is the earth, the world and the fullness thereof You have found. Justice and judgment are the preparation of Your throne.

English translation

English translation

When the day came for the purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought the Baby up to Jerusalem, to present Him to the Lord, as it is written in the Law of the Lord : ‘Every firstborn male shall be consecrated to God.’ And they offered a sacrifice, as ordered in the Law of the Lord : a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.

There lived in Jerusalem at this time a very upright and devout man named Simeon; the Holy Spirit was in him. He looked forward to the time when the Lord would comfort Israel, and he had been assured, by the Holy Spirit, that he would not die before seeing the Messiah of the Lord.

So he was led into the Temple by the Holy Spirit at the time the parents brought the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the Law. Simeon took the Child in his arms, and blessed God, saying, “Now, o Lord, You can dismiss Your servant in peace, for You have fulfilled Your word and my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You display for all the people to see. Here is the Light You will reveal to the nations, and the glory of Your people Israel.”

His father and mother wondered at what was said about the Child. Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary, His mother, “Know this : your Son is a sign, a sign established for the falling and rising of many in Israel, a sign of contradiction; and a sword will pierce your own soul, so that, out of many hearts, thoughts may be revealed.”

Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother, His mother’s sister Mary, who was the wife of Cleophas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw the mother, and the disciple whom He loved, He said to the mother, “Woman, this is your son.” Then He said to the disciple, “There is your mother.”

And from that moment the disciple took her to his own home.
